Internship Director
UNAR is seeking experienced individual with expertise in program management and student development to join our UNAR Board.
Our Internship Director will serve as a the primary coordinator of our Internship Program. This includes attending various college career fairs in the local area to recruit interns for UNAR specific intern opportunities and internships with our community partners.
As UNAR continues to support our mission and our various community partners promote global peace, we are looking for a determined and passionate individual to help us plan and execute our most important events of the year that focus on the issues that matter.
1 year paid position with option to renew
Key Responsibilities

Up to 10 hours/week, Monthly Board Meetings on the Third Saturday 10:30am, 1 ½ hours

In person at our St. John Fisher University office with some travel to events such as job and recruitment fairs at local colleges and universities.

Recruitment
Advertise internship roles (UNAR Social Media, Community Engagement, UNAR Grant Writing and UNAR Model UN) on Handshake, UNAR’s Website, and career fairs
Respond to inter applicants to schedule interviews (ideally up to 8-12/semester) prior to each semester. For 2025-2026 the remaining semester are Spring 2026 (January 26th-May 8th, 2026) and Summer 2026 (June 1-August 14th)
Create and store computer documentation of all individual intern application materials for recordkeeping in the Internship Program Google Drive and share with the UNAR Google Drive
Attend and promote UNAR internships at job fairs during Fall and Spring Semesters at University of Rochester, SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Brockport, Rochester Institute of Technology etc.
Community Partnership & Internship Placements:
Rebuild and continue relationships with community partners for community engagement interns by keeping in contact with site supervisors weekly and visiting sites throughout the year
Keep accurate records of openings and needs of community partners on Internship Taskgrid in UNAR/Intern Program Google Drive
Advise site openings and confirm the availability to determine numbers required per site before upcoming interview cycle
Effectively communicate with interns to ensure their understanding of host agency placement and roles
Communicate and help facilitate the placement process
Send appropriate thank you notes at the end of each semester to site hosts of interns
Training and Administrative Tasks:
Facilitate the completion of UNAR’s weekly reflection Google Form and communicate with Interns and host agencies to address questions/concerns or facilitate conversations when necessary
Assist interns with completion of any required paperwork for their university studies or international student paperwork in order to begin or receive credit
Advise interns of appropriate behaviors, dress, and further information for successful internship experiences
Within first two weeks of internship, contact and meet in person with interns to check-in and facilitate adjustment, reinforce reporting, keep them up to date of any UNAR events (UN Day/MUN)
Periodically communicate with with key personnel at partner colleges
Complete performance evaluations for interns to earn college credit when needed
Ensure students complete their final reflection and make sure their final responses are in their appropriate Google Folders in UNAR/Inter Program.
Track all student data in our Intern Spreadsheet on the Internship Program Taskgrid
Respond to former interns seeking advice and/or provide letters of recommendation as needed

Pay $20.00/hour
Have primary residency in Rochester, New York
Holds Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree with a minimum 3 years experience in education, social work or related field working with young adults.
